Bailey, Annan & Elliott named football Athletes of the Week
X-Men wide receiver Devon Bailey was named the StFX Football Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 26, 2010. Devon, a first year Arts student from Meadowvale, ON, scored the X-Men’s only touchdown Saturday evening in their 24-11 loss to Acadia. Devon caught a pass for a 35 yard touchdown play early in the 4th quarter to pull the X-Men to within 4 points. It was the X-Men’s offensive unit’s first major of the season.
X-Men football defensive lineman Nate Annan was named the StFX Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 26, 2010. Nate, a second year Business student from St. Thomas, ON played a strong game for the X-Men defense in their recent 24-11 loss to Acadia. Nate recorded 4 solo and 3 assisted tackles in the game, including 2 tackles for a loss of yards, one of those being a sack. Nate was the 2009 AUS Rookie of the Year last season.
X-Men defensive back Charlton Elliott was named the StFX Football Special Teams Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 26, 2010. Charlton, a first year Arts student from Pickering, ON played a strong game for the X-Men special teams on kickoffs, punts and punt returns in Saturday evening’s 24-11 loss to Acadia. Charlton made several key tackles, including one on a punt fake. He also had many key blocks for the X-Men in their return game.
