Catterall, Lynch and Alix football Athletes of the Week
X-Men wide receiver Jordan Catterall was named the StFX Football Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 3, 2010. Jordan, a first year Business student from Oakville, ON, led the X-Men with three touchdowns Saturday afternoon in their 37-26 win over Mount Allison. He had 4 total receptions in the game for 109 yards, including his touchdown receptions for 45 yards, 20 yards and 9 yards, all in the first half. Jordan also saw time on the kick return team and had 2 returns for 41 yards.
X-Men football linebacker Tom Lynch was named the StFX Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 3, 2010. Tom, a fourth year Arts student from Granand, QC continues to be a key leader this season on the X-Men’s defense. In their recent 37-26 win over Mount Allison, Tom recorded 3 tackles and had a key interception late in the game which he returned for 40 yards, setting up an X-Men field goal which secured them the win.
X-Men kicker Anthony Alix was named the StFX Football Special Teams Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 3, 2010. Anthony, a second year Arts student from Mont-Tremblant, QC scored 19 points in the X-Men’s recent 37-26 win over Mount Allison. He kicked 3 field goals in the game and converted the point after for 4 touchdowns, including scoring a key touchdown of his own as he recovered his own punt, late in the second half to give the X-Men a 31-9 half-time lead. Anthony also had 11 punts for 359 total yards throughout the afternoon.
