Dickson, Szela & Williams earn X-Men football player of the week honors
X-Men running back Ashton Dickson was named the StFX Football Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 9, 2012. Ashton, a second year Arts student from Ottawa, led all running backs in StFX’s 51-5 win over Mount Allison Friday night. He had 150 total rushing yards on 26 carries and also scored a touchdown late in the 2nd quarter on a one yard run to help put the game out of reach for the X-Men.
X-Men football defensive back Bryce Szela was named the StFX Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 9, 2012. Bryce, a fourth year Business student from Burlington, ON, had two fumble recoveries in the X-Men’s recent 51-5 victory over Mount Allison, one of which he returned for a 37 yard touchdown early in the 2nd quarter to give the X-Men a key 20-3 lead at that point in the game. Bryce also added 1.5 tackles on defense.
X-Men returner Damone Williams was named the StFX Football Special Teams Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 9, 2012. Damone, a 2nd year Arts student from Mississauga, ON, scored two touchdowns in the X-Men’s recent 51-5 win over Mount A. After a 55 yard TD reception, Damone then recovered a fumble and returned it for a 15 yard TD. He tallied 104 total yards on punt return with 7 returns and also had 74 receiving yards.
