2026 AUS football schedule released

(HALIFAX, N.S.) Atlantic University Sport released the 2026 football schedule today.

Each of the conference's four teams will play eight regular season games, with a bye week scheduled for Thanksgiving weekend.

The regular season will kick off in September, with opening weekend set for Sept. 4-5.

The Mount Allison Mounties will host the Acadia Axemen for the AUS season opener on Friday, Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. AT in Sackville, N.B.

The STFX X-Men will host the defending champion Saint Mary's Huskies on Saturday, Sept. 5 at 2 p.m. in a rematch of the 2025 conference final.

The Huskies will host Mount Allison Friday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. in their home opener.

The four Homecoming games are as follows:

• Mount Allison Mounties: Saturday, Sept. 19 at 2 p.m. versus STFX
• STFX X-Men: Saturday, Oct. 3 at 2 p.m. versus Mount Allison
• Saint Mary's Huskies: Friday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. versus Acadia
• Acadia Axemen: Saturday, Oct. 17 at 2 p.m. versus Saint Mary's

Regular season play will wrap up Saturday, Oct. 31.

The AUS playoffs are set to begin the following weekend when the second-place team hosts the third-place team Saturday, Nov. 7 in the playoff semifinal.

The winner will advance to face the first-place team the following week in the 2026 Bell AUS Loney Bowl conference championship game set for Saturday, Nov. 14 at 2 p.m.

The AUS champion will then move on to visit the OUA conference champion in the 2026 U SPORTS Mitchell Bowl on Saturday, Nov. 21.    

The Mitchell Bowl and Uteck Bowl winners will advance to play each other in the 61^st Vanier Cup on Saturday, Nov. 28. The 2026 national championship game will be hosted at TELUS-Université Laval Stadium in Quebec City, Que.

The 2026-27 winter sports schedules will be announced in May.
