X-Men win over Guelph
The X-Men defeated the Guelph Gryphons Thursday night in Halifax at Saint Mary’s University 96-82. Jeremy Dunn led the way for the X-Men with 19 points and nine rebounds on 7-11 shooting while second year guard Jordan Clarke netted 16 of his own from the field.
It was a productive game for the X-Men who shot a solid 52 percent from the floor on Thursday night in front of a mainly blue and white crowd in Halifax.
Kareem Malcolm and Daniel McCarthy were the leading scorers for Guelph with 30 and 17 points respectively.
After trailing in the first quarter and being tied at halftime the X-Men began scoring with ease in the second half and pulling away slowly from the travel-weary team out of Ontario. StFX’s 32 points in the fourth quarter was a season high for the team.
The X-Men are hosting their Invitational Tournament this upcoming weekend. Friday night St Mary’s takes on New Brunswick at 6pm and the X-Men take the courts against PEI at 8pm. Saturday the consolation final will take place at 6pm and Championship game will be at 8pm. The X-Men have taken home two tournament championships in the past month.
