Ice X-Men start season 0-2

The hockey X-Men began AUS regular season competition this past weekend and were handed a 4-3 overtime loss by Dalhousie Friday night in Halifax and a 2-0 loss by Acadia at home on Saturday.
On Friday at Dalhousie, X-Men freshman Matt Bragg opened the scoring with a goal five minutes into the game. Trevor MacKenzie evened it up for the Tigers with a minute and a half left in the first period. Phil Mangan scored a power play goal for X halfway through the second frame to give them a one goal edge, but their lead was short lived as the Tigers countered with the next two goals off the sticks of Jeff Larsh and Hampus Enzell. Rob Warner scored the tying goal for StFX at the 13:51 minute mark of the third period to send the game into overtime.
The game winning goal went to Chad McCaffrey of Dalhousie who scored 4:12 into the overtime frame. Teams were fairly even in shots with Dalhousie holding a 35-33 edge. Josh Disher earned the win in nets for the Tigers while Danny Battochio took the overtime loss for X.
On Saturday night at the StFX Keating Centre, the Acadia Axemen outshot the X-Men 29-23 and goaltender Kristofer Westblom eanred the 2-0 shutout victory. Battochio again took the loss for StFX. Jonathan Laberge scored an early first period power play goal for Acadia, followed by a second period goal by Scott Tregunna.
Next on the schedule for the X-Men is a road trip to New Brunswick for games against St. Thomas and Moncton.
