Hockey X-Men get 1st win of season
On Friday, StFX scored three goals in each of the first two periods on thINSERT INTO articles (nId, headline, article, [image], dateofcreation, status, teamid, priority, added_by_manager) VALUESeir way to a 7-5 win over St. Thomas and their first win of the season.
\r\nBrett Liscomb and Phil Mangan had two goals a piece and Brett Robertson chipped in three assists in a game that saw the X-Men go 3 for 6 on the power play. Ricky Bowie had a goal and an assist and Sean Flinn added two helpers. Bryce Swan and Tyson Aitcheson also each had a goal. Danny Battochio stopped 30 shots on the way to his first win of the year.
\r\nIn the second half of the road trip through New Brunswick on Saturday, the X-Men fell to the University of Moncton by a score of 6-3.
\r\nStFX was down five goals halfway through the second period and was unable to battle out of such a deep hole. Battochio saw enough rubber to make a tire out of, as he let in those five goals on 24 shots and was replaced by Ryan Aschaber in the 2nd.
\r\nBrett Morrison, Chris Hulit and Liscomb each scored goals for the X-Men, while Pierre-Andre Bureau led les Aigles Bleues with two goals and an assist. StFX was out shot 44-26 and gave up three power play goals on ten opportunities.
\r\nAfter four games, the X-Men have a 1-2-1 record and will look to improve upon it this weekend. StFX will host UNB on Saturday and UPEI on Sunday. Game time for both is 7 pm AST and both will be webcast live from the Keating Centre.
