X-Men Defeat Dalhousie in Game 1 of Quarter-Final Series
CIS No. 7 ranked X-Men hockey defeated the Dalhousie Tigers 4-0 at home this past Thursday night in game 1 of the quarter finals. X-Men lead the series 1-0.
X-Men began the game taking a 2-0 in the first period. Chris Hulit (8:02), assisted by Jason Bast and Kevin Undershute, was the first to put StFX on the board. On a power, Hulit (13:01) scored his second goal of the night with the assist going to Spencer McAvoy and Jason Bast.
In the second period Brennen Wray (5:50), assisted by Scott Brannon and Phil Mangan, scored X-Men’s third goal. Spencer McAvoy (8:14) fired a shot past Tiger’s goalie Bobby Nadeau on the power play to bring the score to StFX 4 Dalhousie 0. Hulit and Mangan with the assist.
The third period was scoreless with Joseph Perricone stopping 7 shots Dalhousie fired his way.
Final shots on net were 39-14 in X-Men’s favor. Joseph Perricone was awarded the shutout win in nets for StFX while Tiger’s Bobby Nadeau was tagged with the loss.
X-Men next see action this Saturday afternoon at Dalhousie where they will play game 2 of the quarter finals. Game time is at 2:00 pm and Eastlink will be doing a live broadcast of this game.
