StFX all-star soccer camp accepting registrations

ANTIGONISH, NS – StFX women’s soccer head coach Trevor Reddick is pleased to announce that registration is still being accepted for the upcoming StFX all-star summer soccer camp, slated for July 16-20th at StFX University.
 
Reddick, currently heading into his ninth season behind the helm of the X-Women, has been the camp director of the StFX all-star soccer camp for the past ten years. “We are very much looking forward to hosting the 11th annual StFX all-star soccer camp this July,” comments Reddick.

“The camp has come a long way over the years and continues to grow in popularity each year. I actually started and organized this camp while living in England. In our first year I did all the planning and organizing over there and ran the camp for the first time when I came home for the summer, so it has been a really great experience being able to expand and develop the camp over the past decade.”

There are three categories of campers which include mini campers (age 4-7), day campers (age 8 and older) and overnight campers (age 12 and older), with daily sessions scheduled from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Campers will receive instruction from current X-Women and X-Men soccer players as they participate in specific drills aimed to improve techniques such as dribbling, shooting, passing and heading. Game instruction will involve the development of positional awareness, tactics and teamwork, with campers having the chance to win prizes be challenging each other during daily skills competitions.
 
Each camper will also receive an end-of-week certificate and report card, a soccer ball and camp T-shirt. The final day of the StFX all-star soccer camp will see the return of the highly popular ‘parents versus campers’ match, along with a barbeque.

The annual camp takes place on the campus of St. Francis Xavier University, utilizing one of the best natural grass fields in Atlantic Canada, along with the turf facility at Oland Stadium.
