Getting to Know...Sam Hutchison

X-Men soccer goalkeeper Sam Hutchison is the latest athlete featured in our Getting to Know your X-Women and X-Men series throughout the summer. Sam recently completed his second year with the X-Men and is an Arts student from Victoria, B.C.

Saving a PK vs SMU at home last season and getting the 1-0 win

If I could meet any famous person it would be…?
I wouldn't mind meeting Daniel Craig, I'm a bit of a Bond junkie.

My favorite Disney movie or character is…?
The Great Mouse Detective

My biggest pet peeve is…?
People chewing with their mouth open, not a fan...

My dream job is…?
Something abroad and in the sun, I'm hoping to live in Europe at some point post-graduation.

My biggest fan is…?
Definitely my parents in Victoria, my mum watches the webcasts every game. However my aunt and uncle from Tsawwassen, BC also keep close watch of X Athletics.

Tell us something interesting about your hometown?
I'm from Victoria BC, and people may not know that we don't get winter here. Every few years it will snow for a day or two and those 2 inches will completely shut down the city. I've been told to stay home from school because of flurries.

Food:  Very tough, I'd have to say a good paella is tough to beat.

Holiday:  Argentina, somewhere to hide from an east coast winter. Spent a few weeks there a few Christmases ago, I'd return in a heartbeat.

Social Media:  I've been known to dabble on Reddit

TV show:  Heroes, Band of Brothers, and of course Game of Thrones

Vacation spot:  Europe, preferably somewhere warm and on the Adriatic.

Singer/Band:  Springsteen, Sam Roberts, Hardwell

Item of clothing:  Shoes, no question

Pro sports team:  Tottenham Hotspur, looking forward to a better Premier League campaign next season.
