Campbell leads X-Women over STU

Sep 24, 2007 - The X-Women hockey team opened their exhibition season Saturday afternoon with a 4-1 win over the visiting St. Thomas Tommies at the Keating Millennium Centre. Tommies forward Caroline Hammerheim opened the scoring just 2 minutes and 37 seconds into the first period. X-Women forward Amanda Church replied for X at the 14:52 mark of the first period, while Christina Davis gave the X-Women a 2-1 lead with a power play goal 4:23 minutes into the second frame. Church scored her second goal of the game, also on the power play, at 9:38 into the third period while Davis rounded out the StFX attack with her second goal of the game at the 17:40 mark. Rookie forward Carolyn Campbell assisted on all four X-Women goals as the line of Church-Davis-Campbell handled all of the scoring duties for StFX. Goaltender Crystal Stewart played the first two periods and earned the win in nets with 8 saves while Mia Leander handled the netminding for the Tommies posting 36 saves on the afternoon.\r\n\r\nThe X-Women will play two more exhibition games at home this weekend as they host the Saint Mary�۪s Huskies Saturday afternoon at 3pm and the UNB Varsity Reds Sunday afternoon also at 3pm. Both games will be played in the Keating Millennium Centre auxiliary arena.
