X-Women clinch final AUS playoff spot in their last game of the regular season in a 0-0 draw with Sea-Hawks
St. John's, NF - The STFX X-Women clinched the final AUS playoff spot in their last game of the regular season in a 0-0 draw with the Memorial Sea-Hawks Saturday evening.
The tie gave them a crucial point that lifted them over the Saint Mary's Huskies to clinch sixth spot in the standings. STFX finishes with a 3-3-6 record and 15 points.
They will be heading to Cape Breton next weekend to compete in the AUS Championship tournament. The sixth seeded X-Women will face the third seeded Cape Breton Capers in the second quarterfinal game on Thursday, October 23rd at 4:00 pm.
The 1:00 pm quarterfinal will feature Acadia (5) against Memorial (4), while the top seeded Dalhousie (1) and UNB (2) will await quarterfinal winners for their opponents in Friday's semifinal matches, also scheduled for 1:00 and 4:00 pm. The championship game is slated for Sunday at 1:00 pm. All games will be webcast live on www.austv.ca.
