The StFX X-Men emerged victorious 75-72 over the Acadia Axemen in a thrilling mid-week matchup at the StFX Oland Centre. Jayden Smith (Halifax, NS) made a buzzer beating three-point shot from the corner to give StFX a three-point win and earn a precious four points in the AUS standings in their battle to secure a playoff spot.

In the tip off game for the 27th annual Rod and Joan Shoveller Memorial Tournament, the Saint Mary?s Huskies took on the StFX X-Men at the Dalplex. The Huskies opened the game with hot shooting, and it carried them throughout to take the 87-53 victory.

After leading the team to the brink of an AUS championship last season, gone are four starters and eight players in total, including former All-Canadian Kevin Bercy and AUS all-star Julius Antoine. Bercy has continued his outstanding career playing professionally in Spain. This year’s squad might be the youngest in Coach Steve Konchalski’s 44 years at StFX, with seven freshmen and an average age of less than 20 years.
